Our Story

The Story of Clay Co Christmas

Clay Co Christmas was born from a story that started just across the state line in neighboring Kentucky.

In 2019, what began as a small act of obedience in Monroe County grew into something far greater than we ever imagined. As new empty nesters celebrating Hanukkah without our kids at home, we felt the Lord gently nudging our hearts to give back. What started as a simple idea shared among family quickly turned into a mission.

That first year, Monroe Co Christmas sponsored four families and wrapped 124 gifts — each one filled with love, prayer, and hope.

After a brief pause during the COVID years, the outreach returned stronger than ever. Families were blessed, first responders were encouraged, and a community came together to care for its neighbors in a way that reminded us all what Christmas is truly about.

But Clay County has always been part of our story.

My husband grew up here. I spent many childhood days in Clay County playing marbles and making memories, and I later worked here as well. The people, the hills, and the spirit of this community have always held a special place in our hearts.

Over time, it became clear that the same mission that had blessed Monroe County could also bless Clay County.

So in 2026, with the help of a dear friend, Clay Co Christmas was launched.

Our purpose is simple and comes straight from Scripture:

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2

Clay Co Christmas exists to bring neighbors together to serve neighbors — helping families in need, spreading kindness throughout the community, and sharing the light of Christ during the Christmas season.

Through nominations, donations, and volunteers, this outreach allows everyday people to come together and create something extraordinary.

Because at its heart, Clay Co Christmas isn’t about an organization.

It’s about people.

It’s about love.

And it’s about a community coming together to make sure no one feels forgotten during the most meaningful season of the year.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.” – 1 Peter 4:10
